hi, my name is saphren!
I’m a photographer, artist, and birth doula living and working on the traditional unceded territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
Funnily enough, I’m the photographer who doesn’t like getting her photo taken. I get nervous in front of a camera, wondering if my attempts to “act natural” are actually awkward as can be!
Even though I can’t always take my own advice, I am an expert behind the lens at getting my clients to relax, be themselves, and enjoy getting their photo taken.
My speciality is making photoshoots feel comfortable, easy, and authentic to YOU.
A little more about me.
I’m an avid mystery novel reader, a lover of a good London fog, and a practiced bad pun maker.
You can often find me up to my elbows in flour, making some carb or another, (I’m partial to a loaf of fresh bread, or a heaping serving of fresh pasta) or on a walk through a forest, camera in hand.
I have a degree in visual arts and enjoy playing around with many different mediums alongside photography.
*Fun fact — In addition to photography, I have been working as a birth doula for 9 years, supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and I love every second.
Variety is the spice of life!
Inclusion is everything.
I offer a sliding pricing scale, with zero judgement.
I also have a special place in my heart for the arts – if you’re an artist, musician, dancer, or performer, you’re amazing and you make this world a more beautiful place.
As a lifetime choral singer and visual artist myself, I love creating images that speak to you and your medium.
